Refurbishment of an office on the main floor of a historic building on Corso Galileo Ferraris.
The project, led by Niccolò Piccinni’s Herringbone studio, operates on two levels: on the one hand, the functional precision required by a contemporary workplace; on the other, the creation of a spatial narrative composed of layers, references and details.
The project adopts a decidedly maximalist approach, with an almost bespoke feel, in which the restoration of the existing structure becomes a living material.
This attention to detail is also reflected in the décor of the meeting room: an intimate, almost suspended space, where the cosy atmosphere fosters concentration and dialogue.
Light plays a central role in the design of the spaces. The restored vintage Sputnik interacts with the multicoloured Flos 265, whilst in the distribution corridor, immersed in a deep blue, Gehry’s Mamaclouds for Belux seem to float above the copper-finished Flos Flauta, striking a balance between lightness and substance.
The new additions blend in discreetly, creating a measured contrast with the existing structure. The mezzanine, introduced for functional reasons, overlooks the entrance with a fluid gesture: the curvilinear forms that embrace the entrance hall, the nautilus staircase and the gilded finishes establish a measured dialogue with the grandeur of the original space.
